Think Ethanol Is A Safe Alternative Fuel? Think Again

As the myth around global warming begins to unravel and Operation Desperation sets in, it's important for the public to know why biofuels aren't the answer to solving global warming. Biofuel, as you probably know or can guess from the name, is any energy source derived from living organisms of any kind. The most common biofuel is a blend of gasoline called E85, which means it's 15% gasoline and 85% ethanol. However, the gasoline and ethanol is variable based upon the outside temperature so its more or less gas in the mixture depending on the time of year in most areas of the United States. During cold weather, more gasoline needs to be added to the mixture to ensure the fuel works properly, so E85 is at least 70% ethanol.
The need for gasoline then, would drop by 70% or more and that would be a tremendous advantage…not as good as having no more need for gasoline, but better than what we have right now for sure. So that is not the problem with Ethanol, particulary.
Here are some real problems with Ethanol The shift to biofuels is causing a global food shortage beyond the usual. The problems are rather fascinating Most ethanol is derived from corn. Corn therefore has huge demand. Therefore farmers are growing more corn than wheat and soy. So now instead of having not enough corn you have not enough corn, soy and wheat… it gets worse As a result of that situation you end up with three new sets of problems: lack of land on which to grow corn and other staples, soaring food prices and, yes, potential starvation of the poor.
If you eat anything, you're not immune to the skyrocketing food prices. You know that the price of food has increased partially due to the increase in the price of diesel which is used in the trucks that transport it, right? In the same fashion, what corn gets on the market has shot up unprecedentedly in the last few months - around 30% already this year – due to the push of biofuels. What is odd about all this is that the environmentalists, who are politically situated on the far left for the most part, have always been chastised as “bleeding hearts” because of their desire to help all the underprivileged at the expense of hard working middle class people and also the wealthy, like modern day Robin Hood.s The biofuel solution, pushed hard by the same folks is hurting the poor, hungry, underprivileged people of the world the most.
While the price of food continues to skyrocket which makes it even harder for the poor people of the world to get any decent nutrition, the government will inevitably suck more out of our paychecks while anyone who complains about it will be hit as “unsensitive and selfish” . Wow! It is almost as if it was all designed that way with malice aforethought by the rich and the elite.
By 2030, the total population of Earth is expected to increase to such a high level that we would need to increase food production by half between now and then just to keep up. In 70 years based on current projections, it would have to double. But the urgent movement to biofuels - allegedly environmentally friendly - translates in reality to a reapportionment of farm land to growing food for energy purposes.
The rise in demand has been reflected by the rapid rise in the prices of basic crops, especially wheat, since 2005.
Biofuels have been suggested as a handling for lowering the greenhouse gas emissions pumped out by fossil fuels however recent research have questioned their impact when all factors, for instance the use of pesticides and such on the crops, arefactored into the equation. Critics have been angered by the rapid destruction of tropical rainforests, which have been cleared to allow farms to grow biofuel crops.
