Biofuel Will Kill Many More Millions Than Terrorism!

Biofuel Equals Death Of Millions
Biofuel is already killing many, many poor people. So it is not that I am trying to be dramatic. I could not possibly be dramatic enough.
Using United Nations global poverty statistics as a base, it is now clear that United States and European Union biofuel policies will significantly contribute to the early, avoidable deaths of between 10 and 20 million people in the year 2008 alone. Only a post-disaster assessment by future scientific studies and historians can give a more exact figure for the body count of The Great Biofuel Famine, which may continue for many years to come. This is urgent, folks, and all but invisible!
Even in the "wealthy" USA, the homeless, veterans, the disabled, the elderly, and all those living on low fixed incomes are facing a rougher go than ever because of our new "GREEN" policies, which John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama have all knowingly come out in favor of.
The USDA states that by the end of May, US wheat supplies will be lower than at any time since 1948 because so many wheat farmers switched to growing corn for biofuel. This spring, US farmers are planting more wheat but less corn, so next year corn prices will be even higher, with devastating effects on food prices around the world.
Biofuels are a dead end technology that can only lead to more death and destruction of people, property and the atmosphere no matter what biofuel crops we grow. Two years ago the price of corn was only $2 bushel, but expanding ethanol production has pushed corn prices up to over $6 a bushel today which raises the price of chicken, eggs, beef, and dairy products, as corn is our main animal feed. Last year, America’s farms sold enough corn, soy and rapeseed for use as biofuel that could have fed 250 million people for an entire year with sufficient caloric intake for them to survive. According to the World Bank the price of staple foods has soared an astonishing and highly alarming 80% in the last three years since 2005 and there is already a threat of political instability in thirty three countries as a result of this unprecedented change. In even some wealthier countries like Italy there have been food riots. In Haiti, some of the poor have resorted to eating cookies made of mud! The food riots in Haiti have looked more like revolution than just demand for food.
There is no safe way to make biofuels in sufficient quantity to have any significant positive effect on our economy. Many independent studies from agencies, universities, etc show that ethanol from cellulose (switchgrass, wood chips, crops waste, etc.) will never be cost effective. Some companies, including major oil corporations, have sought to extract biodiesel from algae but they have been trying unsuccessfully with a great waster of money and time and effort for over thirty years now. In addition to the effects on the world food supply, using corn as a source for ethanol takes so much use of other energy sources that it is not even 1/5th as efficient as fossil fuel and instead it is a killer of people and a hazard to the environment.
Scores of scientific studies from respected authorities have demonstrated that results from biofuel generation include torture of wildlife, destruction of the biosphere and faster global warming.
There is so much evidence that biofuel is a disastrous "solution" to the Earth and its inhabitants, that one wonders who promotes it still. Obviously, not anyone with humanity's best interests at heart.
While all of this goes on there are real solutions coming forward but these are all at the grassroots level. Water4Gas is one of the best.
