Advertising Without AdWords

By: Kirt Christensen.....

In the everchanging world of internet marketing Google's AdSense and AdWords have become iconic. In fact many advertisers do not realize that there are more ways than Google to be successful on the internet. These ways have the added benefit of requiring less capitol investment.

If you are not familiar with this topic, Adwords is a pay-per-click advertising/marketing business; when someone views an ad posted with Adwords the advertiser pays a fee.

The fee assessed is usually under a dollar; however it will rapidly compound to a large sum, especial if the clicks are on keywords that are popular and in high demand and will often return a higher number of 'false leads'. Just like casino gambling the payperclick gamble can take very little time to use up an advertising budget.

Luckily, as hard as this may be to believe, Google's game is not the only game in town. Adwords is also not the most widely used. A wise internet marketer who will look past Adwords will find the time wisely spent growing your profits not draining your budget.

The simplest and least expensive method of advertising without AdWords is to utilize the powers of social networking through blogs and forums. Each of these is a community feature, which allows web surfers to come together to discuss topics that are of great interest to them, and the exposure is unbelievable.

As they post on a blog whose topic is relative to their product if an advertiser includes a link to his webpage, he can raise the quantity of visitors to his site without paying any ppc charges.

Another method of marketing is to advertise on another businesses website. Selecting the site in question is a tricky proposition, and it is essential that the advertiser attempting this bold move has carefully analyzed his target audience and identified the sites that they frequented.

You have three ways to advertise on another company's site.

The advertiser can opt to simply create a text or a banner ad and pay the site in question to post the ad (this may not be an improvement over the pay per click method unless they are willing to charge a standard fee for the amount of time it is displayed).

Good web content is the basis for the other two methods. In the one way a writer is paid to write articles full of information on a specified topic, that ties in to the advertisers website, to post on the advertisers site to raise his sites credibility with search engines and thereby increase his traffic.

To help others build content and get free advertising you can practice what is known as 'link building'. The way you do this is create an article on a topic related to your product or website, then offer this article to a related website as content so long as they put your name and site information at the bottom as a resource.

Actually, link building works best when the reader in reality finishes the article completely. They also have to enjoy the article enough to want to see if the author has anything else available. But with how limited the attention span of the majority of internet users, the likelihood is low.

Instead, the author can write an article which will have links to key information locations on their own website scattered throughout the article. If the reader comes to a point where they wish to explore an idea more thoroughly or they cannot grasp what is going on they can select the link and it will instantly transport them to the other site.

This is what is known as hosted web content; most other sites will charge a fee for this service, as it draws visitors away from their site.

With strategic use of these ideas you can be profitable and limit your use of the, sometimes dangerous attractions of AdWords. You can walk away with pride and wallet undamaged.
